ARIN and our affiliates encourage individuals and families affected by abortion, either directly or indirectly, to have completed an Abortion Recovery Program PRIOR to involving themselves in any type of client counseling, speaking, ministry leadership, legal, research or activism opportunity.
Abortion Recovery InterNational promotes, what we call... "healing first!"
What does this mean?
ARIN believes that before an individual gets involved with any "life" issue, especially abortion, that they agree to the option of participating in an Abortion Recovery Program. For those directly affected by abortion, this program might be an Abortion Recovery Support Group offered in their community, or through one-on-one counseling. For those in-directly, such as grandparents, siblings, extended family, we recommend the same as above. For those working with individuals or families affected by abortion we highly suggest the participation in a group designed to educate the participants in after abortion grief/trauma.
Individuals walk into a recovery program with a different mind set, heart set and compassion level than when they walk out. We want those who choose to share their testimony, either in person or on paper, to be of the best mental health. We want our client advocates, ministry leaders, board of directors and volunteers to be knowledgeable of the issues faces by individuals directly or indirectly affected by abortion. This step of recovery not only protects the person speaking or sharing, but also those receiving the information. It also protects the liability of the agency or organization involved.
